Vacation Mode and Healthy Habits? Here’s how I made it work....

Simple shifts to feel your best wherever you are in the world...

There’s something magical about traveling
It pulls you out of your routine, immerses you in new experiences,
and challenges your body in ways you might not expect.

Especially when you're somewhere like Peru,
exploring breathtaking places like Cusco and Machu Picchu at over 11,000 feet elevation.

Air gets thinner the higher you go, meaning your body has to work harder to oxygenate your muscles. Dehydration, fatigue, and headaches hit faster if you're not prepared

After this trip, here are my top strategies for staying healthy, strong, and energized while traveling:

🚶 1. Walk like it’s your superpower

Instead of stressing about structured workouts, I made walking the main event.
Some days I hit over 20,000 steps without even trying.
It helped me adjust to the altitude and new foods so much faster.

💧 2. Hydrate + add electrolytes

At higher elevations, you lose minerals quickly through breathing and sweat.
Adding electrolytes once or twice a day was such a game changer for energy, digestion, and avoiding altitude headaches.

Here’s what I use….

🍲 3. Eat intuitively (and enjoy it!)

You can savor local food and honor your health goals at the same time.
I enjoyed fresh ceviche, local trout, and quinoa soups, while listening to my hunger cues without guilt.

😴 4. Respect your body’s signals

Your body is doing so much adapting behind the scenes while you travel.
I prioritized naps, deep breathing, and gentle movement instead of "pushing through" fatigue.

🌿 5. Let go of perfection

Health isn’t about rigid control.
It’s about flexibility, awareness, and being kind to yourself, wherever you are in the world.

Whether you're climbing mountains or strolling city streets,
the best way to stay healthy while traveling isn’t grinding harder
it’s supporting your body smarter.

You can still give your body what it’s craving: a reset; no plane ticket required.
