Peak Performance Just Got an Upgrade
Peak Performance Is EvolvingAI Is Changing the Game.
For years, we’ve talked about peak performance in terms of what humans can optimize.
Better sleep.
Better nutrition.
Better training.
Better routines.
Better focus.
And all of those things still matter.
But I think we're entering a completely different era of peak performance.
Because now we have something previous generations didn't:
A thinking partner available on demand.
AI.
And before you picture someone asking ChatGPT to write 47 emails so they can cram even more work into an already overloaded day, that's not what I'm talking about.
In fact, I think that's one of the least interesting ways to use it.
The real opportunity is this:
What happens when a high-performing human learns how to work with AI really well?
1. Use AI to Challenge Your Thinking
This might be my favorite use.
Don't just ask AI for answers.
Ask it to poke holes in yours.
Peak performers don't need another person agreeing with everything they say. They need feedback that makes their thinking sharper.
Sometimes the best use of AI isn't generating an idea.
It's stress-testing one.
⚡ Peak Performer Prompt
«"Act as a critical thinking partner, not a cheerleader. I'm going to give you a decision, idea or plan. Identify my assumptions, blind spots and potential weaknesses. Challenge anything that doesn't hold up. Then tell me what you would change and why."»
Try it before making your next big decision.
You may not agree with the answer.
That's actually the point.
2. Turn Information Into Intelligence
We have access to more information than any generation before us.
And somehow we're still overwhelmed.
That's because access to information isn't the same thing as knowing what to do with it.
AI can help you take research, reports, meeting notes or complicated information and turn it into something useful.
But don't stop at summarize this.
Go one level deeper.
⚡ Peak Performer Prompt
«"Analyze this information as if I need to make a decision from it. Give me the five most important insights, what deserves my attention, what is probably noise, any risks or opportunities I might miss, and the three actions you would prioritize next."»
Now you're not just consuming information.
You're doing something with it.
AI shouldn't replace your judgment. It should give your judgment better material to work with.
3. Learn Faster
Imagine having a tutor who can explain something five different ways without getting annoyed with you.
That's essentially what we have now.
And one of the biggest mistakes people make with AI is simply asking it to explain something once.
Instead, make it teach you.
⚡ Peak Performer Prompt
«"I want to become highly competent in [TOPIC]. First, assess what I already know by asking me five questions. Based on my answers, identify my knowledge gaps and teach me the highest-value concepts first. Use real-world examples, challenge me with scenarios, and quiz me until I can explain the topic confidently without your help."»
That's very different from reading another article and hoping you remember it.
You just turned AI into a personalized tutor.

4. Protect Your Cognitive Energy
Not everything deserves your best brainpower.
Scheduling.
Organizing notes.
Creating first drafts.
Planning.
Summarizing.
Building checklists.
Sorting through competing priorities.
These things still need to happen, but they don't necessarily need 100% of you.
Think about your mental energy like a budget.
⚡ Peak Performer Prompt
«"Here is everything currently taking up mental space for me: [BRAIN DUMP]. Organize it into: Do, Decide, Delegate, Automate, and Ignore. Then identify the three things that deserve my highest-quality energy today and explain why. Keep the plan realistic rather than trying to maximize how much I accomplish."»
That last sentence matters.
We're not trying to turn ourselves into productivity robots.
We're trying to protect our capacity for the work that actually matters.
5. Use AI to Find Your Next Level
Here's one I think more people should do.
Instead of only using AI when you have a problem, use it to identify where your biggest opportunities for growth actually are.
⚡ Peak Performer Prompt
«"Act as my performance strategist. My current goal is [GOAL]. Ask me whatever you need to understand my habits, skills, resources, constraints and current strategy. Then identify the biggest bottleneck between where I am and where I want to be. Give me the highest-leverage change I could make over the next 30 days and tell me what I should stop doing as well as what I should start doing."»
Notice something?
We're not asking:
"How can I do more?"
We're asking:
"What actually moves the needle?"
There's a difference.
But Don't Outsource the Muscle You're Trying to Build
There's one rule I think every high performer needs to remember.
Don't use AI to avoid the exact skill you're trying to develop.
If you're trying to become a better writer, don't have AI write everything.
If you're developing leadership judgment, don't let AI make every decision.
If you're learning something new, don't immediately ask for the answer.
Think about it like training.
You wouldn't go to the gym, have someone else lift the weights and expect your muscles to grow.
Your brain isn't that different.
Use AI as resistance, feedback and leverage.
Not a replacement for thinking.
The Next Level of Peak Performance
I don't think the future belongs to AI.
And I don't think it belongs to humans who refuse to use it.
I think it belongs to people who learn how to combine the two.
Human judgment + machine speed.
Human creativity + instant iteration.
Human experience + access to enormous amounts of information.
And perhaps most importantly:
Technology that creates more room for us to actually be human.
Because peak performance was never supposed to mean squeezing productivity out of every waking minute.
It's about having the physical, mental and emotional capacity to perform at a high level without losing yourself in the process.
AI doesn't change that goal.
It just gave us a completely new set of tools to get there.
🍓 Recipe of the Week
Strawberry Cheesecake Overnight Oats
Because peak performance still requires delicious meals!
Ingredients
½ cup rolled oats
½ cup unsweetened almond milk
½ cup plain Greek yogurt
½ scoop vanilla protein powder
½ cup chopped strawberries
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp maple syrup or honey
½ tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of cinnamon
1–2 tbsp crushed graham crackers
Make It
Mix the oats, almond milk, Greek yogurt, protein powder, chia seeds, maple syrup and vanilla together.
Fold in most of the strawberries and refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, top with the remaining strawberries and a little crushed graham cracker.
Want it extra creamy? Add a spoonful of whipped cottage cheese or a little light cream cheese before refrigerating.
You get protein, fiber and carbohydrates in one ridiculously easy meal that's perfect for breakfast or post-workout fuel.
And yes, it tastes suspiciously close to dessert.
One Last Thought
AI can make us faster.
But the goal was never simply to do more.
The goal is to have more capacity for the things that actually matter.
What’s one way you’re using AI to work smarter without outsourcing the thinking?
